History

1917 Koei Seiyaku Co., Ltd. was founded and began manufacturing acetic acid.
1926 Company name changed to Koei Co., Ltd.
1931 Began to manufacture acetone and n-butanol by a fermentation process.
1934 Began to manufacture formaldehyde.
1950 Began to manufacture meta-aminophenol.
Company name changed to Koei Chemical Co., Ltd.
1952 Began to manufacture pentaerythritol.
1959 Began to manufacture trimethylolpropane and formaldehyde-alcohol solution.
1962 Began to manufacture amines.
1963 Received "Inoue Award"of Toryo Houchi Shimbun Co., Ltd. (an industry newspaper company) for the manufacture of pentaerythritol.
1964 Began to manufacture pyridines commercially.
1967 Received "Okouchi Commemorative Award"for the manufacture of pyridines.
Built a production plant in Chiba Prefecture and began manufacturing pentaerythritol.
1969 Received the "Award for Outstanding Rubber Engineering Techniques".
1971 Began to manufacture formaldehyde, trimethylolpropane, hydrosulfite and amines at the Chiba Works. Also began manufacturing neopentylglycol and nalidixic acid.
1972 Began to manufacture sodium aluminate and polyaluminium chloride aq. solution.
1980 Began to manufacture chemical body warmer.
1982 Received the "Endeavor Award"from the Minister for Labor during National Labor Hygiene Week. Built a multi-purpose plant and began production of amines and pyridines derivatives, reinforcing facility as to manufacture fine chemicals.
1985 Began to manufacture cyanopyrazine.
1986 Began to manufacture dirazep hydrochloride.
1987 Received recognition from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry as meeting the "Good Laboratory Practice".
1989 Received "Award for excellence"for the Osaka Works and the Research Laboratory from the Minister for Labor during National Labor Hygiene week.
1990 Received the "Industrial Technology Award "for development of "CASCON-RESIN (functional modified epoxy resins)"from the Osaka Industrial Research Association.
1991 Received the "Technological Prize" from the Catalyst Society of Japan for the industrialization of cyanopyrazine. A multi-storey storage facility for hazardous chemicals was constructed at the Osaka Works.
1992 Awarded the "Chemical Technology Prize" by the Kinki Chemical Society for the Development of intermediate for anti-ulcer drug.
Received the "Technological Prize" from the Adhesive Society of Japan for the development of epoxy resins adhesives.
1993 Expanded production facilities of dipentaerythritol.
Recognized by the ministry of Labor as meeting the "Good Laboratory Practice".
1994 Began to manufacture ditrimethylolpropane.
1995 Built a multi-purpose plant in Chiba Works and began to manufacture intermediates for pharmaceuticals and agricultural chemicals.
1996 Committed to "Responsible care".
Obtained ISO 9002 certification.
Opened liaison office in Dusseldorf, Germany.
1997 The Company's shares were listed on the Second Section ofthe Osaka Securities Exchange.
Received "Technological Prize" from the Catalyst Society of Japan for "The development of highly selective catalytic production process of pyridine bases".
Built a gas phase multi-purpose plant in chiba works and began to manufacture intermediates for pharmaceuticals.
1998 Awarded the "Chemical Technology Prize" by the Kinki Chemical Society for the new synthetic method of intermediate chloro nicotinyl insecticide.
1999 Obtained ISO 14001 certification
New Multipurpose Plant Completed for Production of Pharmaceutical Intermediates at Chiba Works.
Opened liaison office in New York, USA. ( - 2003)
2000 Paper and pulp related business is transferred to Asahi Chemical Kogyo Co., Ltd.
2003 Head Office relocated.
2005 Tokyo Office relocated.
2006 Most of Headquarters operations relocated to Tokyo Office.
2010 Most of Manufacturings operations relocated to Chiba Works.
All of Research Laboratories relocated to Chiba Laboratories.
New structure of Research Laboratories is opened in Chiba Works.
